Discord Rules
The rules of the VRCTools Discord server - keep it friendly, safe and helpful for everyone.
The VRCTools Discord is the place to get help, ask questions and talk about building VRChat worlds. To keep it a welcoming space for everyone, please follow these rules. By joining the server, you agree to them.
1. Be respectful
Treat everyone with respect, regardless of their experience level. Everybody started somewhere - no question is too basic. Disagreements are fine; keep them civil and about the topic, not the person.
2. No harassment or discrimination
Harassment, bullying, threats and personal attacks are not tolerated - in public channels, in voice chat or in direct messages to other members.
We do not tolerate hate speech or discrimination of any kind, including (but not limited to) discrimination based on:
- sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression
- race, ethnicity, nationality or skin color
- religion or belief
- disability, physical or mental health
- age, body or appearance
Respect people’s identities: use the name and pronouns they ask you to use.
3. Keep it safe for work
Our community includes people of all ages (within Discord’s and VRChat’s age requirements). Do not post sexual, pornographic, gore or otherwise explicit content anywhere on the server - this includes messages, images, links, avatars, usernames and status messages. Sexual advances or unwanted sexual comments towards other members are harassment (see rule 2).
4. Respect privacy
Do not share other people’s personal information (real names, addresses, photos, account details or private messages) without their explicit permission. Do not record or share voice chats without the consent of everyone involved.
5. No spam or unsolicited advertising
- No spam, message flooding, excessive mentions or chain messages.
- Don’t advertise other servers, products or services without permission from a moderator. Showing off worlds you built with VRCTools is welcome in the appropriate channel.
- Don’t send unsolicited direct messages (including advertisements or friend request spam) to other members.
6. No stolen content or malicious software
Do not share, request or promote ripped or pirated assets (avatars, worlds, paid packages), cheats, crashers, exploits, malware or anything else that breaks the VRChat Terms of Service or harms other players and creators.
7. Getting help
- Use the right channel for your question so others can find and answer it.
- Check the documentation first - your question may already be answered there.
- Share details: package and version, Unity and SDK version, what you tried, console errors and screenshots of the inspector. See Reporting bugs for a checklist.
- Ask in public, not in DMs. Please don’t direct message the maintainers for support - questions answered in public channels help everyone.
- Be patient. VRCTools is maintained in our free time and everyone helping out on the server is a volunteer.
8. Follow Discord’s rules
Follow Discord’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines at all times.
Moderation
Moderators enforce these rules at their discretion. Depending on the severity, consequences range from a warning or a temporary mute to a kick or a permanent ban. Severe violations - such as threats, hate speech or explicit content - may result in an immediate ban without prior warning. Moderators may also remove content or act on behavior that is not explicitly listed here but goes against the spirit of these rules.
If someone breaks these rules or makes you feel unsafe, send a direct message to a moderator. All reports are treated confidentially. Please don’t take matters into your own hands or argue in public channels.
These rules may be updated from time to time - the version on this page is the current one.
